Andrea Gabriel - Public Health & Society Advanced Practical Experience and Independent Research Excellence Award

In recognition of exceptional initiative, applied learning, and meaningful impact, this award honors outstanding contributions to public health research.

“Andrea approached me early in her first semester expressing interest in research  experience. She joined our lab as a research assistant and has been continually impressing us this year. Professors Seff, Fleckman, and I regularly comment on the maturity, sophistication, and depth of Andrea's engagement and outputs. Andrea has supported a literature review on technology-facilitated violence and mental health implications, has conducted qualitative coding to support analysis of a virtual safe space program for girls and women in Ecuador, and a variety of other research tasks. She keeps pace with our masters students and is an absolute pleasure to work with.” - Co-Director Lindsay Stark

Maya Davis - Public Health & Society Student Service Award

In recognition of exemplary academic achievement and extraordinary service, this award celebrates a commitment to leadership, service, and the advancement of public health.

“Maya is also a clear leader in the classroom. She not only participates actively and answers questions, but also consistently brings strong public health perspectives to our discussions. As the only rising senior majoring in Public Health & Society in a class composed of students from multiple majors, she demonstrates remarkable strength in interdisciplinary thinking and enriches our conversations with thoughtful insight, relevant personal experience, and creative thinking.” - Dr. Rose Sommerhauser

Teddy Basa - Public Health & Society Academic Excellence Award

In recognition of outstanding academic performance, this award honors exceptional scholarly achievement, engagement in research, and intellectual rigor across coursework.

"Teddy Basa consistently displays attention to concepts discussed in class, shares thoughtful reflections during the weekly written reflections, and contributes to the class discussion with unique and important perspectives. He also shows flexibility in thought and considers alternative perspectives during debates or live discussions about complex issues. On his mid-semester paper submission, he incorporated a framework based on work we had not yet covered, by reading ahead and reviewing conceptual frameworks that could apply to his innovative topic.” - Dr. Mary Politi

Mia Kouveliotes - Public Health & Society Ampersand Award

In recognition of exemplary achievement in Public Health & Society and embodiment of the program’s core values: academic excellence, civic engagement, and interdisciplinary inquiry.

Mia was nominated by multiple faculty and staff, highlighting her outstanding dedication to Public Health & Society both in the classroom and as a representative of the program, qualities that exemplify the spirit of this award. She has been a clear leader in the Student Ambassador program since its inception. We’re so grateful for the ways she has brought the core principles of Public Health & Society to life, both in the classroom and beyond.
